HYTEN-TAH TELEMESARTAN + AMLODIPINE + HYDROCHLORIDE
Mode of Actions:
- Telmisartan is used in the treatment of high blood pressure.
- Telmisartan is also used to decrease the chance of heart attack, stroke, or death in people 55 years of age or older who are at high risk for cardiovascular disease.
- Telmisartan is in a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists.
- It works by blocking the action of certain natural substances that tighten the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
- Amlodipine is used with or without other medications to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
- Amlodipine belongs to a class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.
- Amlodipine is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure and chest pain (angina).
- Amlodipine is in a class of medications called calcium channel blockers. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not have to pump as hard.
- Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat edema (fluid retention; excess fluid held in body tissues) caused by various medical problems, including heart, kidney, and liver disease and to treat edema caused by using certain medications including estrogen and corticosteroids.
- Hydrochlorothiazide is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure.
Indications:
- High blood pressure is a common condition and when not treated, can cause damage to the brain, heart, blood vessels, kidneys and other parts of the body.
- Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat edema (fluid retention; excess fluid held in body tissues) caused by various medical problems, including heart, kidney, and liver disease and to treat edema caused by using certain medications including estrogen and corticosteroids.
- Amlodipine is indicated by hypertension.
- Amlodipine is used in the management of hypertension and coronary artery disease in people with either stable angina (where chest pain occurs mostly after physical or emotional stress) or vasospastic angina (where it occurs in cycles) and without heart failure.
How telmisartan + amlodipine + hydrochlorothiazide works This is a combination of three medicines:
Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) and Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). They work by widening and relaxing the blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic which removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body through urine. Over time it also works by relaxing blood vessels and improves blood flow.
Side effects:
Common side effects of telmisartan + amlodipine + hydrochlorothiazide are Ankle swelling, Headache, Dizziness, Tiredness, Palpitations, Sleepiness, Increased blood uric acid, Glucose intolerance, Taste change, Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk), Stomach upset, Altered blood lipids.
