STATIN-AF10 ATORVASTATIN + FENOFIBRATE
Atorvastatin+Fenofibrate is used in the treatment of high cholesterol and high triglycerides.
Mode of Actions:
- Atorvastatin tablet belongs to a group of drugs known as “statins”. It reduces the level of low density lipoprotein or “bad cholesterol” in the body.
- It also helps in curing various conditions like narrowing of arteries that arises due to high cholesterol levels in the body. It can also reduce the amount of liver fat in the body. This drug is also used to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack or coronary heart diseases.
- Fenofibrate helps reduce cholesterol and triglycerides (fatty acids) in the blood. High levels of these types of fat in the blood are associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis (clogged arteries).
- Fenofibrate is used to treat high cholesterol and high triglyceride levels.
Indications:
- Atorvastatin is used together with diet, weight loss, and exercise to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke and to decrease the chance that heart surgery will be needed in people who have heart disease or who are at risk of developing heart disease.
- Atorvastatin is also used to decrease the amount of fatty substances such as low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol ('bad cholesterol') and triglycerides in the blood and to increase the amount of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol ('good cholesterol') in the blood.
- Lowering your blood level of cholesterol and fats with atorvastatin has been shown to prevent heart disease, angina (chest pain), strokes, and heart attacks.
- Activates peroxisome proliferator- activated receptors(PPAR-Alpha), TG level reduction and an HDL cholesteorl increase.
How atorvastatin + fenofibrate works This is a combination of two lipid-lowering medicines:
Atorvastatin and fenofibrate. Atorvastatin prevents your body from making "bad" cholesterol (LDL) while fenofibrate works by lowering the levels of triglycerides in your blood. Both raise the levels of “good” cholesterol (HDL).

Common side effects of atorvastatin + fenofibrate are Nausea, Stomach pain, Constipation, Flatulence, Headache, Muscle pain, Increased liver enzymes, Increased glucose level in blood.
